Queens Drive Night-Time Resurfacing Works

We are moving into the next phase of our Queens Drive

highway improvement works, which requires resurfacing of the carriageway. To carry out this work safely and efficiently, we will be working overnight and closing Queens Drive to through traffic between Dovedale Road and Park Avenue.

Nightly road closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am, starting on Monday 20 July 2026 and continuing until Monday 3 August 2026.

Work programme

• 20–22 July: Works between Aigburth Vale junction and North Mossley Hill Road junction.
• 23–24 July: Works between North Mossley Hill Road junction and Dovedale Road.
• 27–29 July: Works between Aigburth Vale junction and North Mossley Hill Road junction.
• 30–31 July: Works between North Mossley Hill Road junction and Dovedale Road.

Traffic management

During these works, traffic will be diverted via Park Avenue, Aigburth Vale, Carnatic Road, Victoria Road, Elmswood Road, Rose Lane, Mather Avenue, Allerton Road and Penny Lane. We will remove closures as soon as it is safe to do so and ask road users to allow extra time for their journeys.

Access restrictions

Please note that there will be no access to Liverpool College or the Sports Centre between 8pm and 6am on:

• Wednesday 22 July 2026
• Wednesday 29 July 2026

We appreciate that night-time working may cause some disturbance, particularly during warmer weather. However, due to the high volume of traffic using Queens Drive, daytime closures are not feasible. We will brief our teams to work sensitively and minimise noise wherever possible, including turning off plant and machinery when not in use.
