Trams are an vital part of South London’s transport system, carrying over 17 million passengers each year.
We are continuing to invest in the tram network to make it safer and more reliable in the future. Replacing tracks and improving infrastructure are key to keeping London moving.
This work to replace tracks at several locations in Croydon town centre will help make sure the tram network stays safe, reliable and ready for the future.

The Trams depot at Therapia Lane near Croydon is TfL's first depot to replace fossil fuels with renewable technologies, with the work forming part of a wider programme to further decarbonise our assets and operations, and support the Mayor’s ambition of London becoming net zero.
Over 300 Solar panels have been installed to generate renewable energy on-site, as well as other energy efficiency measures such as on demand electric water heaters and LED lighting.
The project has upgraded heating systems with a mixture of efficient heat pumps and infrared panel heaters that will replace inefficient, fossil fuel gas boilers.
With gas fully removed from the site, Therapia Lane Depot now operates on fully electric infrastructure.
